Sacramento County is actively partnering with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) in an ongoing effort to detect and eradicate the Japanese beetle, an invasive pest that poses a threat to local gardens, landscaping, and agriculture. In response to beetle detections in the Carmichael area, CDFA has been conducting targeted treatment of lawns and ornamental ground cover using Acelepryn, an EPA-registered larvicide that is applied by trained state personnel. Residents in the designated treatment area may be contacted by CDFA crews, and we encourage community cooperation to help protect our local environment. For more information about the treatment process, safety, and what to expect, please visit the CDFA Japanese Beetle Treatment Information page at www.cdfa.ca.gov/plant/jb/treatment, or call the pest hotline at 1-800-491-1899.
