Each company and person who for hire, award, commission, or any other payment of any kind, repairs a commercial weighing or measuring device is required to register with the Division of Measurement Standards (DMS) as a service agency (company) or a service agent (individual). In order to register, agents must obtain a license by passing an online examination administered by DMS.
Placed in Service Report:
Agencies/agents who repair a device in Sacramento County must notify our department by submitting a placed in service report within 24 hours. The Placed in Service Report may be e-mailed to AgComm@saccounty.gov or faxed to (916) 875-6150. View an example of a Placed in Service Report.
Violations:
Weights and Measures inspectors may issue a violation to the service agency/agent for any improper or incorrect repair. Repeat violations my result in license suspension or revocation.
